Star India and Hotstar Now a Part of Disney – $71 Billion Deal

Now Walt Disney now owns Hotstar, Tata Sky, Star India as $71 billion deal with 21st Century Fox! Dozens of sports, local & national entertainment channel of Star India is now owned by Disney.

Walt Disney is all set make the comeback in the India Entertainment industry by the acquisition of 21st Century Fox followed by Hotstar.

With $71 Billion deal, Hotstar is now owned by the Walt Disney company. Hotstar is a popular online streaming service which streams sports with Hindi movies, TV shows along with regional languages shows.

  • With this, Tata Sky, Star India & Hotstar became the part of the Disney.

Walt Disney owns the major stake of Rupert Murdoch’s assets like Twentieth Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Fox family, Fox 2000 Pictures and Fox Animations. it also now owns the Fox TV segment. Further now National Geographic is also owned by Disney.

This deal is the biggest and most expensive deal of the Disney so far. With this deal, Disney has become one of the worlds largest media conglomerates. Disney is fully geared up to give tough combat to OTT services like Netflix by launching its own online streaming platform named as Disney Plus.

In India, Star India will be in charge of the business operation. Fox News and Fox Sports will also be the independent entities in US of Murdoch’s Fox Corp despites of acquisitions.
